Story

On Saturday 18th October 2008 We are holding a sponsored walk in memory of our beautiful little angel Lola, who fell asleep on 15th April, when she was 8 days old. The 8 mile trek will take place in Chatburn, Lancashire (where we live) and we will be joined by family, friends, and anyone else that would like to support us!. Lots of children will be taking part, including Darcie (2); who is actively raising sponsors in memory of her beloved sister. All money raised will be used to support the excellent work of the Meningitis Trust. Anyone willing to take part, sponsor us, or make a donation are more than welcome, and your support will be greatly appreciated! For more information please contact Lotty on 07977238437 or the Meningitis Trust. This is our first event in memory of our little princess; we feel that it is so important for us to keep Lola's memory alive & to help others affected by Meningitis. In anticipation of your kindness THANKYOU.

Following our articles in the local paper, and the Free Press regarding our sponsored walk in memory of baby Lola, we received kind donations from some old friends, and also from people that we had never even met before! We were touched by these people's generosity and kindness, and their support is greatly appreciated. THANKYOU! xx

The Lola Kay Sponsored Walk

29th October 2008
On Saturday 18th October at 9:30am approx 70 dedicated walkers met in Chatburn, to brave the wet & muddy fields to raise money in memory of baby Lola. Some walkers turned out in fancy dress- including Darcie (2) as a princess, men dressed as women, a pair of Mexican's, a Sumo Wrestler, a French Renaissance Lady, Steve Irwin (and his crocodile), a back-to-front man, and not forgetting Dad- who waddled the full 8 miles dressed as Monty the duck. At the halfway point refreshments were welcomed (@ the Shireburn Caravan Park). Following a quick stop, walkers continued, enjoying the lovely scenery & countryside- little did they know that they would be facing the MUDDIEST field ever!!. Kids & adults clambered through the mud, loosing their footing & falling in the mud- this all added to the fun and atmosphere, a good day was had by all!!!. At the end of the trek walkers dragged their tired muddy feet to the Pendle Hotel, Chatburn (where soup & sandwiches were kindly provided). The walkers then relaxed, chatted, and enjoyed well deserved drinks. We were overwhelmed by the support & generosity of family, friends, and everyone who got involved. A speech was given (by Chris, Meningitis Trust) on behalf of Lola's family, and it was announced that we had raised a minimum of £3,500 (what a result!). We are delighted to have raised this amount of money for Lola's tribute fund, and wish to say a big THANKYOU to everyone that helped us make the day such a success. We look forward to the next event!.

Hi there, just wanted to let you know how saddened and shocked we all were when we heard of your awful loss last April. Some of the staff would like to join you in your walk next Saturday to help honour the memory of your precious little girl. Hope that is OK
