Children's Hospitals Candle Service
2008 November 27

On Sunday 23rd November 08 Steven, Darcie, Uncle Adam and I, went to a Remembrance Service at Salford Cathedral (in memory of all the children who sadly passed away in the last two years). We added Lola's remembrance page to a book of remembrance, lit a candle for our little Angel, and received a beautiful flower, and took part in an act of remembrance. It was an extremely emotional but comforting service, as poems were read, and songs played (all of which we could relate to so much).
The Day Begins-
The churning starts as the day begins
In my stomach the familiar fear
Nothing in life can be the same
When you lose someone so dear
So up i get and do the things
One is expected to do
Like eating, drinking, living!
But how can i without you.
'Hello you're looking well' they say
They have no idea they do not know
What it's like to lose a child
To say good-bye, to let them go
Unless they've 'been there, done that'
They cannot know the pain
The dark despair, the agony
Of not seeing your child again
The face i show isn't genuine
It's there to make life easy
For all around who don't understand
And think life's 'easy-peasy'
My daily face gives nothing away
I don't tell them how i feel
I look ok, so must be
But my broken heart won't heal.
